Calls the default constructor with an empty list of file extensions and the filter description.

FileDialog

public FileDialog(java.util.List fileExtensions,

Default constructor. Finds the default system directory for the JVM and passes that filepath tot he super constructor. Creates a local FileFilter from the argument file filter extension list and description.

Parameters:

fileExtensions - the list of file extension filters to use

fileDescription - the description of the file filter

chooseFile

public java.io.File chooseFile(java.lang.String approveButtonText)

Opens a file chooser dialog, with the customized file filter settings, and returns the File that was selected by the user.

Parameters:

approveButtonText - the text used in the ApproveButton in the FileChooserUI

Returns:

File The file chosen by the user from the FileChooserUI (null if none was chosen)

addExtension

public void addExtension(java.lang.String extension)

Adds a file extension to the list of file extension filters to use.

Parameters:

extension - the file extension filter to add

setExtensions

public void setExtensions(java.util.List extensions)

Sets the list of file extension types to filter upon

Parameters:

extensions - the list of file extension filters

getExtensions

public java.util.List getExtensions()

Returns the list of file extension filters used.

Returns:

The list of file extension filters

setDescription

public void setDescription(java.lang.String description)

Sets the description of this filter. Usually explains which type(s) of file(s) are being filtered.

Parameters:

description - the description of the filter

getDescription

public java.lang.String getDescription()

Returns the description of the file filter.

Returns:

The description of the file filter
